V-ThreadV-Threads are a ice climbing technique used to create anchors. V-Threads are commonly used while descending so that the party does not have to leave ice-screws. V-threads are created by screwing a long ice screw into solid ice at a 45 degree angle. The ice screw is removed than replaced at the opposite 45 degree angle so that the two holes intersect at the deepest point in the ice (creating a āVā). Webbing or cord is pushed in one hole and pulled out the other using a V-thread tool. The webbing or cord is tied using an appropriate Knots. Related Pages |
