Taut LineWhile the tautline won't be used often while climbing, it is by far the best knot for guying out a tent. So, when you are bracing for impact on the mountain, you'll want to be familiar with this knot. First start with a loop of rope. Tie your first hitch (a loop at the base of your larger loop. Tie another hitch in the same manner as the last one. Take the end and tie another hitch this time on the opposite side of the knot. Tighten it up. The knot should be able to move freely forward and backward when pressure is put directly on it, but when put under tension, it should lock up. Related Pages |
