Fixed Rope

A rope that is permanently (or for an extended period) hung on a rock face. Permanently fixed ropes are used for rappelling and working big walls. This is a common practice in parks like Yosemite for a climber's projects. Taking such ropes and any other gear associated with them is considered stealling and is severly looked down upon by the climbing comunity, however, climbers (other then the owner) using the said gear and the rope is expected.
