Double Bowline

The Double Bowline is a knot that some climbers use to tie into the rope with. It is considered to be a weaker knot then a Double Figure Eight because it rquires the rope to make sharper bends then the eight. Despite the fact that the double bowline is a weaker knot then the figure eight, because its such an easy to tie knot, some sport climbers prefer it over the figure eight..

1. Start out with two loops (pay careful attention to the way they are laid out,
this is the step that most people mess up).

2. Bring the end through the loop.

3. Take the end and go around the rope, and back through the loop.
Leave the new loop that was just created loose in preperation for the
next step.

4. Take the end and make it go through the newly formed loop (in step 3)
as pictured below. This step is necessary to keep the knot from becoming
inadvertantly untied.

5. Pull tight and finish.
