Caves

This is a list of caves (very much so a work in progress), the point of this page is to get rough locations of various caves and get contact info of the owner, or some one that can help facilitate an interested person get access to the said cave.

Oklahoma

Selman Cave

This cave has an active bat population that is currently being studied, so entry is barred during hibernation periods. Its owned by UCO, and the lady that owns the land around it (ranch) is very protective. contact: Troy

Texas

Bear Cave

Small cave located north of San Antonio, Texas. Formations do exist but sadly a large amount of graffiti has been sprayed on many of the nicest formations. Private land.

Cub Cave

Small cave located north of San Antonio, Texas. Private land.

Enchanted Rock Cave

Though not technically a cave, this is great spot for scouts. Located near the top of Enchanted Rock. Near Fredericksburg, TX.

Whirlpool Cave

A good cave to take a scout group through, not many features, but plenty of mud. contact: Troy

Tour Caves

Caverns of Sonora

Tour cave. Near Sonora, TX.

Cascade

Tour cave. Boerne, Texas. Active cave.

Inner Space Caverns

Tour cave. Located near Austin.

Longhorn Caverns

Tour cave.

Natural Bridge Caverns

Tour cave. West of San Antonio. Large formations, large bat population.

Wonderworld

A not so wonderful tour cave. Near San Marcos.

1) DO NOT POST GPS COORDINATES OR DIRECTIONS ON THIS PAGE, unless the cave is on public land and there isn't a potential for people hurting the cave, or the fauna associated with the cave (please, err on the side of caution).

2) Do not post the name or email address of anyone on this page without consulting them first, for example, just because I know "Mexico Mike" (despite the fact that EVERYBODY knows him) doesn't mean I should post his info on this page without his consent, instead, I'm posting my email address so I can network people that are interested with him. I will check up on the contacts posted here.

3) Failure to comply with these rules will result in your IP address being blocked and editing privileges being revoked.

4) Above all, caves are incredibly fragile structures both physically and biologicly, if any information posted here puts them in jeopardy, or has the potential to put them in jeopardy, the information will be removed, and the poster will be dealt with. I'm all for free information exchange, but not at the expense of the things I love.
