FAQ - Download Climbing Widget

What is a Widget?  Widget are mini-applications that run on your desktop.

What is the Spadout Rock Climbing Widget? Spadout Widget allows you to find climbing news, discussion topics and site updates simply by looking at your desktop.  View the screen shot of the Spadout Widget on the left.

How much does the Widget cost?  Free.

Will the Widget work on my computer?  Windows XP with Service Pack 1 installed or Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 installed will work.  Mac OS X 10.3 or newer will also work.

Download the Rock Climbing Widget:  You must install Yahoo Widget Engine first (below).  RIGHT CLICK on the following link and select 'Save Target As' (Internet Explorer) or 'Save Link As' (Firefox).  Save the file to your hard drive (the location does not matter).  Download the Rock Climbing Widget Now.

Download Yahoo Widget Engine:  The Yahoo Widget Engine allows the Rock Climbing widget and 1000s of other free widgets to work on your desktop.  Download Yahoo Widget Engine Now.

How do I execute the Rock Climbing Widget?  After saving the file to your hard drive, double click on it.

The download does not work?  All I see is source code?  You must right click (not left click) on the file and select 'Save Target As' (Internet Explorer) or 'Save Link As' (Firefox).  Widget is a new format so your browser is trying to execute it as opposed to download it (when you left click).

How do I close the Widget?  Right click on the widget and select 'Close'.

How do I reopen the Widget?  Left click on the 'Yahoo Widget Engine' quick bar link (look for the icon with the two gears on the bottom right of your screen).  Select 'Recent Widgets'.  Select 'Spadout RSS'.

Can I uninstall the Rock Climbing Widget?  Yes.  Delete the widget file and the program is completely uninstalled. You can also right click on the widget and select 'Close'.  The widget will not appear again until you request it.

Can I change the position of the Widget?  Yes.  Widgets are drag and drop.  Simply select the widget and drag it to your desired location.
