Good Features These powder twins are awesome; they are built for riding in the deep. The side cut is nice and allows for big turns I found. The flex of the ski is designed well for big mountain riders. The skis seem to have a good take off pop from the big hits. The flex pattern is good for landings straight or switch. The ski is built solid and is a good contender in the big mountain scene. Bad Features If you are planning on taking these skis into the groomers I wouldn't recommend them as their performance quickly diminishes. Recommended Alternatives You can Look into the K2 Seth, Rossignol Scratch BC WRS other options to check out. | Read 14 Reviews | Add a Review | Read 4 Retailer DescriptionsFrom Evogear:Volkl Gotama Skis 2010: Changing such an iconic ski could only be done if Volkl improved it. The new Gotama features revised sidecut of 137-106-122mm. The powder and switch-riding performance is incredible, and yet skiers who want to use it as an every day ski will have greater versatility. Leave it to Völkl to introduce what just a few years ago would have been inconceivable: a rockered, big mountain twin tip that you can use every day at the resort. - Core and Flex Pattern â Multi layer wood core with butter zones. The front of the ski is stiff; since the rocker design is pre-flexed, added stiffness in front provides stability. The flex in the mid-body of the ski is medium, providing a transition to the softer tail, which allows ease of turning on the groomed, and maneuverability in powder.
- Construction â Power Construction: Völkl's longest-running construction utilizes traditional vertical sidewalls and a torsion box internal layup and provides tremendous grip, stability, and sensitivity. Tough Box: Constructed by wrapping the core with layers of fibreglass strands. Made up of numerous 4 X 4 wraps, and oriented at different angles, Tough Box increases the strength of the connection between ski binding and ski.
- Shape â A round overall shape allows easy smearing and speed control without sacrificing the tracking characteristics and firm snow performance.
- Binding Compatibility â Requires wide brake bindings of at least 100mm

Good Features # year old version. Exposed side wall(wood). 2 sheets of titanium. Great ski! Bad Features A little stiff. Tip wants to dive in deep pow! Recommended Alternatives Seth Viscious (K2) |
Comment by PDXtoMHM I disagree about the stiffness. I find them to be one of the softer big mountain fatties....and maybe you just aren't going fast enough in the pow to float!!! Yee-Haw!!! | |
