It is built to last, has a back pack style strap system on it so it can be carried around without destroying your arms. The bag opens up with a big D opening which allows everything to be easily accessible. It has locking zippers so if they somehow got a little open and something tugged at the flap its not going to pull right open. The bag also features compression straps around the bag. |
| I have no complaints the bag can be pricey but it will really last. |
| Mountain hardware makes a high end expedition duffel bag but I don't know if it has the same amount of features that this one has. |

Cred: 2509 | | BOMBER BAG LOOK NO FURTHER! this bag has all the essential options, but nothing fancy. Solid constriction will last multiple tumbles out of a truck, holding a heavy load, or the airport baggage system...time and time again. Compression straps keep the load under control. Backpack straps do their job. I've had 70 pound loads and they're not the most comfortable, but perfect for a short haul (preferably under a mile) Smaller loads are pleasant. One open compartment so nothing confusing, jsut a good good duffle that you would have to try to break. |
| I wish they were cheaper, but they are worth every penny, if you find a sale, jump on it! Minor: I have had all the zipper pulls on all 3 of my duffels fall of, not a big deal, the zipper is still ok to grab, and the zipper itself is still solid. |
| None, you want a durable haul bag, or travel bag, this is it. Unless you're looking for big wall, then Black Diamond and Metolious have some good options. |

A follow up: It's been over a year since I purchased this bag. It's hauled gear on more than a dozen trips. It's seen a half-dozen flights, been strapped onto the roof of a car, spent hundreds of miles tied onto the back of a motorcycle, and suffered untold other abuses. Aside from some black scuffs thanks to airline baggage equipment, it has held up perfectly. |
| First Ascent Duffel was my first choice, but the Base Camp duffel was sized better for flying. |

Cred: 210 | | i've used this bag for the last 3 years.... from trips to gear storage to throw around all day abuse
its water proof material and as everyone else says... (bomber material)
its an over sized duffel bag with 6 different carrying ways i use them all
for:
small for my gym gear,
medium for weekend get away
large for my week trips (or a weekend climbing trip)
x-large... well i do have one but the wife uses it for the week trips ;) |
| would be 1k times better if it was seam sealed to cover EVERY SPECTRUM of water proofness |
| Gregory makes a pretty good design aswell |

| Not a back pack, has straps but the bag will ride from the top of your shoulders down, the Large hits my hamstrings |

| Wish the backpack straps more easily came off for airplane travel. |

Cred: 23 | | These duffels are the best I have used, so much that I bought them in a few sizes. I use the large or medium on every trip I take. The backpack straps are great for walking around the airport or your destination, but I think anything much longer would not be as comfortable. It seems like this bag is bombproof and will last a good long while. |

Cred: 18 | | This bag is absolutely bombproof. Stuff it with climbing gear, clothes, shoes, or anything else you need on your next adventure. Construction is really solid, and the shoulder straps make it easier to carry. |
| The zipper pulls wore out pretty fast, but tying some cord on fixed that fast. |

Cred: 14 | | Review by jbain on Jul. 13, 2011 | | Great bag! I have two sizes and use them frequently. They fly well too! Super durable construction and heavy duty zippers rock! Ive had both about three years and minus a few scrapes are still looking brand new! |
| price is the only draw back, but Ive found it was worth the investment... |
| I Think they are really in a class all alone! |
