This isn't to say that this guy can't run on trails, but it is purpose built for the road. The absolutely huge heel quickly controls uneven heel strikes by giving the user a wide area to balance with. The carbon fiber frame reinforces the EVA in the heel keeping it under the foot, and minimizes it spilling out the side and increases rebound while still giving the shoe a good amount of torsional rigidity (like the XA pro 3d). The shoe has a similar toe off to the XA pro, with just a tad more EVA under the forefoot. |
| My only complaint about this shoe pretty much applies to every one of Salomon's shoes. I have a really narrow heel, and I can't seem to get it to work with any of Salomon's shoes. Otherwise, they have a great fit. |
| If you are going to go off road, the XA Pro 3D is still the way to go. They have less cushion (keep in mind you're running on dirt and grass, not pavement), and a lower center of gravity. Also, because there is less material between your foot and the trail, you get a better feel for the terrain under you. |

Cred: 165 | | Comfortable right out the box. Aside from one thing (see below), held up fairly well after 30 days of hard hiking. Look good. Great lacing system. |
| Traction not the best. Toe of the sole started coming undone too soon. |
| Great shoe for the money! |
