| Petzl Tikka Plus 2 Headlamp 4.4 out of 5 based on 41 user reviews.
Cred: 470 | | Great little lamp with a burn time that can not be matched. Has three dimming setting. High is good for find your way to and fro from camp for late night bathroom runs. Medium is great for around camp and low is wonderful for in the tent. It also has a strobe signaler that you can can use to signal your buddies who weren't able to get on the trail until after dark.
The Headband is comfy and secure for all general purpose camping. I would not try to take this one caving though. |
| Petzl Zipka is the same lamp assembly and stores easier for those who don't care to wear a headlamp for hours on end. |

 Cred: 722 | | Durable.
I found my Petzl Tikka Plus headlamp out at a campsite on property that was last used in September this April or May. I gave it a rinse, hung it to dry near my bathrooms' little heater. The resulting headlamp is my new favorite, and replaced my Black Diamond Moonbeam (which is a 4-LED, multiple settings, but seems to fade much more quickly on the same batteries). It might not function well underwater but this headlamp can certainly recover, if the one I have has anything to say about it! |
| Batteries are hard to change. Band is okay, not great (not very snug). |
|
Cred: 324 | | great little headlamp - easy to switch modes (this is important, i have seen other headlamps that are annoying to use), stays at angle i want it, and is only 3 ounces.
nowadays there is probably something that will go brighter than the tikka, but for hiking on a trail or around camp it is perfect for me. |
| would be cool if it had one of those newfangled superbright/afterburner modes. |
|
Cred: 531 | | very lightweight, easily adjustable head strap, super bright (i usually use the lowest setting unless i need to see more than 20 feet), packs nice and small (esp. if you get the little zipper case to go with it!) |
|
Cred: 4460 | | Light, small, bezel, bright. These live on our packs and have save our butts a few times now when we hadn't planned on staying out past dark. Get the pouch that petzl make for it so that it is always with you and not lost in the bottom of your pack. |
|
Cred: 550 | | Relatively light weight, durable, bright (even on low setting). I have rarely used the high setting (it works well for crossing the Buffalo River at night by wading or boat). Uses 3 AAA batteries, so they are easy to replace. I have had no problems with it. |
| Uses AAA batteries, so make sure that you have spares on long trips. Not waterproof. Somewhat difficult to replace batteries (almost feels like you are breaking it). |
| Petzl Zipka or eLite. Various others. |
|
Cred: 398 | | super light, tiny, bright, batteries last quite a while, uses AAA batteries, fairly idiot proof. Rugged as well. I have dropped mine onto rocks from about 15 feet and it worked fine. |
| when changing batteries sometimes it takes a bit of work to get it to close again, otherwise it will pop open and spill the batteries out or shutoff. |
|
Cred: 125 | | Great headlamp. Have had it for about 3-4yrs. Puts out great light. Great for hiking, running, etc. Good fit. Comfortable. |
| Could be brighter but that's what upgrading a new headlamp is for. |

Cred: 315 | | Review by kord92 on Nov. 01, 2011 | | i found an one of these in a campsite many years ago and it has been a really tough little headlight (been dropped submerged dirty knocked up against things) that makes the batteries last. durable and works great! |
| not super bright, band doesnt snug down real tight. |

 Cred: 40569 | | Review by marks on Mar. 31, 2007 | | A great minimalist headlamp. 1,000 hours of light. Very light. |
| The 4 LEDs are not going to provide as much light a halogen setup. |
|
Cred: 688 | | Great caving light, also good for around camp general close range lighting needs |
| Not a far shining beam, 5 or 6 yds is about it to still see any detail, if you want a big beam get a bigger lamp |
|
Cred: 2509 | | comfortable, easy to adjust. 3 brightness settings and a strobe setting. This is the perfect hiking or around camp light. Long burn with 3 AAA's It's really light and is always in our packs. |
|
Cred: 1364 | | Pretty standard headlamp. 4 settings, hi, med, low, and strobe. Good burn time. Reasonably bright. Solid product |
|
Cred: 83 | | sometimes has not worked in extreme cold (maybe a battery issue, not the headlamp) |
|
Cred: 11 | | life, brightness, and beam width are great for close-in work around camp and the tent. |
| beam is a little wide and short for walking |
|
Cred: 23 | | very small and cheap, a good lightweight setup. the adjustable brightness is nice for battery life. |
|
 Cred: 22 | | Review by Spurvs on Aug. 03, 2008 | | -Takes 3 AAA Batteries
