Cred: 803 | | This is the best iteration of this lamp yet. The large white LED fills a use the smaller LEDs of previous models couldn't muster for power. The small red LED is a bonus for digging in a bag at night when you don't want to kill your night vision. This light is a good balance of power and ease of carry. |
| It's not a beam thats going to reach out and touch someone a ways out. You still need to carry a brighter light for spotting purposes or signalling but that's not a knock on it really. |
| For ultra light or backup lighting, the only other one I carry is the e lite - not an alternative to this style, but more versatile for the occasional user of a headlamp. |

Cred: 1700 | | 4 settings (red light, high beam, low beam, blinking), relatively bright for money. I use it for biking, camping, and seeing when the power's out. Of the headlamps I've owned, this is my favorite! |
| switching between modes can be a bit confusing; on the fly, it's difficult to determine how long you need to press the on/off button to change function. Sometimes I'll push the button hard and it'll change function, other times it'll just turn off. Not a big deal, but definitely requires patience, butterfly. |

Cred: 515 | | Excellent head lamp. The clicks, which you might not think about, are solid and can be felt through at least thick fleece gloves. The LED lamp is very bright and has an excellent spread for some decent night climbing. Red lamp is a great feature for any type on night reading. All in all my favorite petzl head lamp |

| I'm really used to a two-strap headlamp, I find this one hard to get comfortable on my head due to all the weight being on the front. Also, it has no feature to lock it off, so it can get set off in your pack or pocket and run down the batteries. Of course, Petzl has a solution to this:buy their headlamp case. |

Cred: 225 | | The multiple brightness setting are very helpful. Not very bulky and very efficient (I've never needed to change the batteries). Also the strap is large enough so that it doesn't slide around or come off your head when doing vigorous activity. |

I use it for everything including night kayaking and running It has performed well in all conditions. It may not be the brightest on the market but just may be the best value out there. |
