The suspension is comfortable and allows good airflow, whereas the styrofoam based ones do not. Its thin enough to wear you can screw on and mount multiple headlamps. This is a favorite for scout groups and such that have to have a helmet fit multiple people, because its so easily adjusted via the wheels on the side. |
| There simply aren't any climbing helmets that have ear protection. I personally saw a guy take a boulder to the side of the head climbing out of a breakdown in a cave in Mexico that would have killed him, had he not have been wearing a lacrose helmet. |
| One thing that everyone should keep in mind when picking a helmet is whether or not they want a multiple impact helmet or one of the foam single blow absorbing helmets. For one hard blow (like if you decked off a climb) a foam helmet works better, but for multiple impacts (if you hit your Head several times on the way down) these work better. |

Cred: 863 | | Great helmet for ice. Suspension style so it can take falling ice like a champ and still leave you with enough fight to top out.
Small space between suspension and helmet is enough to tape a small first aid rig (ibuprofen, tape, gauze.) inside. |
| Cons are that it is bulky and I go with a slimmer fite elios for rock lest you be bumping your noggin a bunch |
| Overall this seems to be the guides, rental gear, and my choice for an ice helmet. |

Cred: 4460 | | Great fit and easy to adjust with side wheels when putting on or off a beanie. No foam to crush and rend useless. I like the old school mountaineering look but the students I work with prefer the newer models of helmets. |

Cred: 128 | | The only helmet for caving, since you expect to hit your head several times each trip. I'm convinced the suspension is better for bumps than the styrofoam ones. It also keeps a nice airspace over your gourd and has plenty of holes to keep you ventilated. The headlamp straps are key, but should be backed up with some duct tape. |
| Good for impact on the top of your head, although foam helmets may be better for side impacts. |

Cred: 51 | | Review by q_t_m on Oct. 27, 2007 | | The suspension is very comfortable. Shell is very durable, takes the abuse of climbing and banging your head on overhangs and in cracks. |
| I've got a big head; 23" or 7-3/8. The helmet fits as far as the headband goes, but it is too narrow and pinches the sides, which gives me a headache after a few hours. |

Cred: 426 | | Very solid, vent holes, nice adjust system. If I were to pick a helmet to get beaned off the head by a rock this would be it. |
|
Cred: 430 | | separate adjustment knobs for front/back and side/side make this helmet fully adjustable and very comfortable; big, beefy plastic |
| suspension system makes it stick above your head pretty far |
|
Cred: 803 | | Lightweight and super adjustable. Comfortable to wear all day long |
| Not the most technically advanced out there, but hey a workhorse is a good thing. |
|
Cred: 1364 | | the standard now. easy to adjust, solid, reliable, well ventilated |
| on the heavier side. suspension makes wearing it a bit awkward |
|
Cred: 316 | | Durability. This helmet will last me a lifetime. |
| Weight and profile - sometimes the helmet hits the rock and throws my balance off. A lower profile helmet would reduce this. |
|
Cred: 158 | | -Classic brain bucket, saves yer noggin
-nice fit
-built to last |
| -little heavier than others |

Cred: 60 | | Been keeping my nugget pristine for 10 years now. |
| Basic design doesn't look nearly as pretty as some of the newer helmets. |
|
Cred: 9 | | Great fit, and the side wheels make it easy to adjust the helmet while wearing gloves. |
| A little on the heavy side. |
