Cred: 858 | | Good overall stove. Boils water rapidly, doesn't go out when windy. I've fried sausage over this thing, made grilled cheese sandwiches and can even simmer thick soups or stews. |
| Needs very even surface to prevent tipping over. |
|
Cred: 470 | | Good stove and light. We carry it for groups of 3 or more. It very useful for larger groups. It was my first backpacking stove and I will most likely keep it till it falls apart. |
| For groups of two or less there are light weight options. |
|
Cred: 1096 | | Boils water surprisingly fast. Its quite stable for it small size, and its really wind resistant. I like having the remote fuel canister it allows for a lower and more stable profile. |
| The wind screen works but its a bit of a joke. |
|
Cred: 463 | | This is my favorite MSR stove so far (I'm getting the Reactor this spring, so we'll see). It's not tipsy, is build to withstand wind and brings water to a boil in no time! |
|
Cred: 32 | | spring, summer, fall, this thing kicks ass |
| canisters not good for cold weather, if ya gotta melt snow, it might take a while......also hard to find canisters in rural parts of the world |
| for cold weather, use a whisperlite inernationale...or if traveling internationally because you can use any fuel type |
|
 Cred: 9 | | Works extremely well.
Very Consistant.
Remote Gas hose lets you use all the gas allowing gravity to work for you.
Solid Control of the flame.
Sturdy Base. |
| Large size
Doesn't pack down super small. |
|
Cred: 9 | | Lightweight, Boils super fast, stable, Works great in the wind. |
| Not the best in very cold conditions, but other than that it is a GREAT stove. |
|
Cred: 5 | | Heats quickly and efficiently, windscreen certainly helps. |
| Only complaint is that something happened with the gas tube right before it feeds into the burner, which caused it to burn with too little oxygen on my first trip with it. Called up MSR, and they fixed it for free and paid shipping both ways. Have not had any issues since. |
