Easy to pump! Filter is faced upward so it's not down in the gunck. I haven't got to use this much at all but for what I have done it does great.
You can't just take this out and pump, you have to set up the handle...not hard at all to do but just added stuff.

light, packable, pumps on the upward and downward pump!
Takes a bit of set up before you pump (one minute)
this is probably any pump, but we had ours clog up extremely quick while pumping glacier melt

One of the lightest, simplest and fastest pump filters on the market. You can get their purifier solution (basically just chlorine) and make it into a purifier (inactivates viruses) if you are going overseas.
I have seen some big guys snap the handle at the narrow point, but you have to really *try* to do that!

This thing is solid - mine actually predates the MSR branding and originally came with a viral filter as well. haven't had much use for it, but the silt prefilter is fantastic in the midwest where mountain streams are not cold and clear.
None that Ive found.
I've used the Katadyn pocket for guiding in the past, and I'd be hard pressed to say the Sweetwater could beat it for sheer quantity of use. Given price however as a factor, this is probably the best out there.

Worked well on all of its outings. Like that it pumps on both upward and downward strokes. Lite weight and doesn't take to much time to setup. Works great when filling up platypus bottles.
Must dry out completely if temps get below freezing. I have a small crack in the filter from a late fall trip. A pre-filter would be nice. Getting more and more difficult to find replacement parts or filters.

easy to work pumping action and outstanding to be able to brush the filter clean, nice pre-filter that I saved after I wore the pump out. I MORE than got my money out of this pump s I pumped for 6 people on several long trips.
cleaning the filter wears it out, sometimes awkward to use with the hose slipping out of the catch container, the adapter did not work on my bladder. Carry a nalgene wide mouth and you are set.

best filter for the price...backpacked through guatemala with this filter, and never had a problem. you have to scour the inner filter with a brush (provided) every once in a while to clean off the gunk, but works like a charm afterwards. nice overflow spurts when the filter's getting clogged, no guessing
never used anything else in 10 years

folds up good. I have used this to supply 30 people with water for a 10 mile hike and not a problem.

Easy to use, light, and has a high flow rate.
Mine stopped working during my 2nd trip with it. I may have gotten a faulty, but either way I'm going with chemicals from now on.

Lighter than most filters. Detachable handle helps save space when packing it.
