MSR Miniworks EX | MSR Miniworks EX 4.1 out of 5 based on 18 user reviews.
Cred: 279 | | The size and weight are pretty nice for a ceramic filter. The filter lasts for a long time when treated properly, and even after much abuse this filter is still working well. |
| The hose can often be to short for some of the types of water filling locations you encounter in the backcountry. Also this is not a particularly fast filter, and while it is nice that it attaches to a nalagene it can be awkward to use in filling anything else such as a bladder. The hose nosel does not always sink nicley below the surface. |

Cred: 647 | | Filters water, easy to take apart and clean/service |
| a little heavy/bulky
requires constant cleaning if there's the slightest sedimentation in the water (I usually have to clean it out after each liter)

Cred: 23 | | Quick, effective and lightweight. Perfect right? Well yes as long as you take care of your filter element. My carbon filter expired prematurely and led to my filter not working on a trip I was on in PA. That said I made due and after replacing it was fine. Make sure you dry it out properly between uses and store according to directions and you will be fine. 4 Stars because it gets slow after using a couple times until you clean it out. |
| Replacement filter price. |
| Nothing in this price range. When I find the perfect filter though I'll let you know ;) |

| Short hose, can be hard to keep the nozzle below the surface of the water if it's swift moving. |
| When our water main cracked and all our pipes filled with muddy water for several days, I filled a tub with the stuff and filtered a few liters of water to get me through using this thing. The filter was absolutely filthy, but I was able to clean it in just a minute or two, and it's held up well since. Bomber! |
