Cred: 3262 | | I know, I know. A lot of people love this stove. It would be great for alpine climbing: Melts snow fast, works great in the cold/altitude, fuel efficient (white gas). It has a fairly adjustable flame for liquid fuel and a very stable pot stand (good when you are melting snow because you will have a big pot. It is reliable with minimal maintenance. And it uses multiple fuels if you are traveling/out of the US and can't get white gas. |
| It just depends what you want this thing for to determine whether it is good or bad. For backpacking, it is cumbersome, heavy, expensive, large, messy, and LOUD. |
| The Whisper Lite is just fine for alpine climbing. Way lighter and quieter. For backpacking, trips under 5 days, most people are happier with pressurized fuel stoves. |
