| Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Jacket 4.7 out of 5 based on 7 user reviews.
Cred: 29 | | The Sub Zero is a snug, plush jacket with multiple functional compartments for storing your things (1x convenient pocket on the exterior, and 2x convenient pockets on the interior). The Sub Zero also improves on durability missing from other down jackets by reinforcing the shoulders, arms, and upper back portions of the jacket, which are generally areas common for rips/tears from normal/frequent use. And most importantly, it keeps you incredibly toasty making it you're "go-to" cold weather jacket; I have 3x down jackets (North Face - Summit Series with Primaloft, REI brand, and Mountain Hardware Sub Zero) and I have to say that this one is my favorite. I would highly recommend purchasing the Sub Zero with the detachable hood; it is well worth the addition expense.
Pros:
- Incredibly warm
- Multiple functional pockets
- Reinforced shoulders, arms, and back (increased durability) |
| This jacket is not completely perfect, but here are the cons:
Cons:
- Heavy (in contrast to other down jackets on the market)
- Can get hot quickly
- Bulky (can be difficult to pack) |
| All in all, the Sub Zero is still a great jacket, but if I need to travel lighter, I'll use my North Face. As an alternative, I would recommend Patagonia's Nanopuff for minimalists. |
