Less for climbing and more for rope work, unless you are in Europe climbing via feratta. If so, having theses while grabbing rock, cables and spikes is invaluable.
They can be hot, poke some holes in them to make a fun design and get some airflow.

Your friends will laugh at you, but you'll be climbing the real stuff with these when the cold has driven everyone else into the gym. The lack of finger tips lets you continues crimping, while keeping the rest of your hand from freezing. Also for those with thinner skin an extra layer is nice for pulling through cracks.
You are climbing in gloves what did you expect. Your friends will laugh at you, and sure you might not feel as comfortable as barehanded.

buy them to keep climbing in the cold. Indulge on long belays or rappels. These are great durable gloves. I've had mine for 4 years, and they're still in great shape.
