These are absolutely great minimalist trail runners. They give a great stance while still protecting from enough of the rocks and gnarly roots. I definitely recommend these if you're looking for a good trail running shoe.
Hey all, I got pair of these a few months ago and have put about 250 miles of running on them so far, with about a 80%:20% paved trail:dirt trail ratio. Here is my honest opinion (keyword opinion!):
I love these things! I've gone on 'long' runs (ca. 8-20 miles) on both trail and pavement with great success. They had enough traction and protection for minimalist running on single-track trails in the Needles Mountains, CO, and have allowed me to develop enough of a forefoot strike to do similarly long runs on the paved trails of Minneapolis, MN.
I recently started running, so I do not have a lifetime of experiences to compare these to, but I got them because the notion of "minimalist" running appealed to me. These are not minimalst to the point of -forcing- you to develop a forefoot strike, as you can still get away with a fair amount of heel strike while wearing these, but it will help if you are consciously working on your stride.
After 300 miles, the soles show wear, but only what you would expect after that mileage on Vibram soles. The mesh uppers and insole look like new. I'd expect to get at least one more season out of these and plan to replace them with another set of Trail Gloves.
Nothing bad to say about this after 300 miles :D
Comfortable. I run all the time in these shoes and I love them.
Took a while to get adjusted to them but i GUESS THATS REALLY NOT A BAD FEATURE . jUST THE WAY IT IS.
incredible shoe. more comfortable than most in my closet
