The new-for-'07 XM317 shares a model number, but not design, with the old 317 Disc cross-country rim. It comes in at a nice price point and comes in both V and disc brake versions.

From Cambria Bike:
All-round Cross Country rim.
UB Control: After anodization, the sidewalls of the rim are milled on digital controlled machines. The coefficient of friction between the rim and brake pad is therefore increased. This prevents shuddering when braking thanks to a smoother joint. 32, 36H in Silver.
