Cred: 20 | | Hiked the AT with this tent. Pole hubs make for a very spacious & comfortable interior for 2 people. Set-up is easy and fast. Ability to pitch the tent with only the fly and footprint also gives you the ability to set up / take down the tent in the rain without getting the interior wet, which is REALLY useful when you need it (though I'd practice beforehand). Double doors are great. Gear loft is a nice option, though it gets in the way of head room so I don't use it anymore. The fact that the mesh doesn't come down all the way to the floor makes you feel as though you have some privacy even when pitching without the fly. Excellent comfort to weight ratio. |
| Getting in/out in the rain without getting the vestibule wet is difficult. Although the tent is color-coded with the poles for easy set-up the footprint is not. |
| Though I've never tried it I saw some other thru-hikers using MSR's Carbon Reflex 2, which looked like it solved the problem of the wet entry while keeping the same spacious interior. However it costs twice as much and looks like it doesn't have the dry set-up option... |
