Marmot Precip Jacket Women s

My wife bought this six months ago. It is an excellent mid to light weight shell but it doesn't provide enough insulation for any extended cold temperatures so wear something underneath.

Super light. Great for a coated nylon shell. Inexpensive compared to laminates (like Gore-Tex and Membrain). Breathes better than a rubberized shell. Perfect for a lightweight backpacker.

Since it is a coated nylon, it isn't going to breath as well as a laminate, but that is why it is cheaper. This is a layering piece, so don't count on it for warmth, that is what your down or fleece mid-layer is for.

If you want lighter and slightly more breathable, but not too expensive, Marmot Essence (although I don't believe they are making it anymore). If you want the most waterproof and the most breathable, and you don't care as much about weight or price, go with a laminate like the Marmot Minimalist or Arc Teryx Alpha LT. If you don't care about breathability at all and you just need something to sit around in the pouring rain in, get a Helly Hansen Voss (like a rubber jacket).

Packs really small (fits in purse or cargo pocket.) Hood actually fits my head and little brim keeps the drips off. Looks good enough to wear almost anywhere. Long pit zips add some relief on hot days.

Best jacket for the money. Its waterproof and comes in bright colors. It doesn't have too many frills, and its light. I'm 5'7" 120 lbs, I have a small, I can layer under it. If you're looking for a minimalist shell with a lot of bang for the buck, this is it.

Waterproof, lightweight... zips into it's own pocket! How cool is that?! Fit is stylish and comfortable. Not at all like wearing a trash bag.

The color "Willow" is much lighter and girlier than shown in online photos. I'm not super pleased, but it'll do.

It stuffs away nicely in a pack but still fits great. I like the hood on this, it covered my forehead even. It fit a little long in the back on me, which is nice so it does't ride up while I have my pack on.

Not much insulation (but I am able to layer under it, which is nice too!)

Cheap durable & relatively lightweight. Pit zips are nice during warm weather rains. Fabric is soft & comfortable. Sealed seams.

Not the most breathable but hey it's a rain jacket!

Very lightweight and packable, doesn't take up room in your pack or create extra weight. Great as an outer layer to keep you dry, and the features like the pit zips allow for breathability so you don't create too much moisture inside the jacket. Also, very reasonably priced!

Haven't found any yet, I use it primarily for backpacking.
