Cred: 6 | | What a great product! I put over 400 miles on these boots this year, and they're still holding up great despite the beating. I used them in dry conditions (Grand Canyon), wet conditions (Los Padres NF), even on snow & ice (Banner Peak); I took them on tough backpacking trips in the High Sierra. The Zephyrs keep the foot insulated from dampness and provide excellent ankle support. Break-in time is one of the shortest of any boot I've ever tried - you just put them on and go. Initially I was skeptical of the outsole because it wasn't Vibram-made, but Lowa convinced me their material is just as good. There were moments when I had to entrust everything to the traction, and it never failed me. 5 stars for quality European footwear! |
| Depending on the type of foot you have, blisters on the toes can develop on long, steep downhills and once you pass the 18-20 mi mark for the day. Also, the insole cloth can wear to shreds underneath the heal, but that's to be expected after hundreds of miles of pounding the section. |
| Best boot I ever owned, by far. Hard to recommend anything else for dayhikes and short backpacking trips. |
