From REI:
Designed primarily for off-piste skiing, the new K2 Tough Luv skis are burly boards that aggressive female skiers will grow to adore.
  • Advanced women who make it their mission to ski steep and deep lines will want the Tough Luv's 88mm waist under their feet
  • Wide dimensions provide exceptional float in bottomless powder; progressive sidecut creates surprising sensitivity on hardpack
  • Progressive sidecut has different curve shapes along different parts of the ski, resulting in confident, quick initiation on hard snow
  • Bioflex core combines fir and spruce to create a ski that is stable and predictable underfoot, while maintaining light and soft tips and tails
  • MOD technology features an elastomeric secondary core which works as a high-performance suspension and damping system
  • MOD technology doesn't affect flex, allowing the skis to bend freely while absorbing vibrations and increasing power, forgiveness and performance
  • MOD Monic damping technology reduces unwanted vibrations at their source, creating a perfect balance between liveliness and damping
  • Metal-laminate construction delivers precise, accurate performance through layers of fiberglass and titanium surrounding the wood core
  • While a little less forgiving, metal-laminate technology creates damp, accurate and unshakeable performance, ideal for expert all-mountain skiers
  • Marker M1 11.0 TC integrated bindings with titanium hubs imbedded into the core of the ski provide incredible control and snow feel
  • Toe and heel spacers are 30% wider than other rail binding systems, placing contact points nearer the ski's edges for responsive edge control
  • Ideally suited for 70% ungroomed and 30% groomed skiing

From Backcountry:
Charge the powder with confidence and control riding the K2 Women's T Nine Tough Luv Alpine Ski with Marker M1 11 TC Bindings. Designed for off-piste in soft conditions, this all-mountain ski's 88mm waist provides enough float for powder days, while a Bioflex wood core and metal laminate topsheet gives you solid performance for riding the entire mountain. When ripping crud or carvng turns on the groomers, you'll appreciate that K2 gave the Tough Luv Alpine Ski a secondary elastomeric MOD core to eliminate vibrations at high speed. The included Marker M1 11 TC bindings provide a solid connection to transfer power from your legs to the ski.

  • Bioflex core
  • K2/Marker M1 11.0 TC binding option
Bioflex Core
Working with the Alliance Team to further develop K2`s line of women-specific skis has lead to BioFlex, a breakthrough multi-wood core technology. Used exclusively on K2`s T9 series of skis, the combination of two distinctively different woods, fir and spruce, provide the best of two desired traits in a woman`s ski; stability and forgiveness. Not just different layers of wood, but completely different cores fused together at the tip and tail. Spruce, a light, soft, wood is used in the extremities of the tip and tail, and fir, a more solid, dense wood is used underfoot. The Spruce provides the turn initiation, lightweight characteristics, and overall ease that T9 skis have come to be known for. The Fir underfoot provides an all new level of confidence inspiring control, predictability and stability.Exclusive to the T9 line of skis, Bioflex core technology makes a giant leap in women-specific ski technology.
MOD Technology
Praised by magazine tests and validated by skiers around the world, MOD Technology has proven to be the ultimate in ski design today. MOD combines an elastometric secondary core that works as a high-performance suspension system and mass damper to provide the highest degree of ease, power, forgiveness and performance available in skis today. The amount, application and distribution of mass are the keys to the success of MOD Technology. At K2, unlike any other manufacturer, our application of mass via the MOD structure does not affect flex, allowing the ski to perform freely while MOD absorbs unwanted vibrations independently.
MOD Monic
Fully integrated within the MOD structure, MOD Monic is an extension of MOD technology, focusing the benefits of mass dampening into a concentrated area. The entire surface of a ski benefits from the MOD structure, but some areas need it more than others. Independent studies at Boeing Laboratories determined precisely where to place the Monic by finding the area of the ski that would benefit the most from additional mass. By targeting a specific area, we aren`t needlessly adding weight. Monic allows for the majority of the MOD structure to be lightened, and have the extra mass focused precisely where it increase performance.
Progressive Sidecut
Progressive sidecut provides wider waist skis more versatility to be used in all conditions. Using Progressive Sidecut, K2 has found a way to combine these wider waisted skis, with more aggressive sidecuts. Standard sidecut theory is based on the belief that they were to have a completely radial arc that is to say if you followed the curve of the side of the ski the tip would match the tail. This works well on narrower waisted skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. Progressive sidecut has different curve shapes along different parts of the ski. Starting at the tail, as you move up the length of the ski to the tip, sidecut progressively increases. What this results in is the confident, quick initiation we desire for hard snow performance at the tip of the ski through underfoot, but with a more forgiving, less aggressive turn shape from underfoot through the tail, allowing easier release in crud and powder. This ability to respect our history, while keeping an eye on the future, will ensure that KT½ traditions get passed on to future generations.
Metal Laminate Construction
With two sheets of titanium alloy running the length of the ski, Metal Laminate skis are the highest performance, most complex construction available from K2. Built from the base up, this construction consists of alternating layers of fiberglass and titanium surrounding a wood core. With less forgiving than a Torsion Box construction, Metal Laminates provide damp, accurate, unshakable performance, ideal for expert-level all-mountain and race skis.
M1 Binding System
The K2/Marker M1 Ski-Binding System sets the standard for performance and integrated industrial design. Central to the design are the M1 titanium hubs that are imbedded into the core of the ski and enveloped in light weight composite housing. These fixed hubs allow for more balanced and centered points underfoot. By using fewer moving parts than conventional bindings, the M1 System allows for quicker, more efficient power transfer to your edges. Additionally, the design of the M1 toe and heel spacers are up to 30% wider than other rail systems thus extending binding contact points closer to the edge of the ski. This aspect increases leverage and power transfer. A fixed heel and floating toe drivers power down and forward while still allowing the ski to flex freely, in a more consistent round arc maximizing performance. State-of-the-art engineering and a sleek integrated design makes the K2 M1 a lighter, more powerful high performance system.
