Metal Laminate Construction
With two sheets of titanium alloy running the length of the ski, Metal Laminate skis are the highest performance, most complex construction available from K2. Built from the base up, this construction consists of alternating layers of fiberglass and titanium surrounding a wood core. With less forgiving than a Torsion Box construction, Metal Laminates provide damp, accurate, unshakable performance, ideal for expert-level all-mountain and race skis.
MOD Technology
Praised by magazine tests and validated by skiers around the world, MOD Technology has proven to be the ultimate in ski design today. MOD combines an elastometric secondary core that works as a high-performance suspension system and mass damper to provide the highest degree of ease, power, forgiveness and performance available in skis today. The amount, application and distribution of mass are the keys to the success of MOD Technology. At K2, unlike any other manufacturer, our application of mass via the MOD structure does not affect flex, allowing the ski to perform freely while MOD absorbs unwanted vibrations independently.
MOD Monic
Fully integrated within the MOD structure, MOD Monic is an extension of MOD technology, focusing the benefits of mass dampening into a concentrated area. The entire surface of a ski benefits from the MOD structure, but some areas need it more than others. Independent studies at Boeing Laboratories determined precisely where to place the Monic by finding the area of the ski that would benefit the most from additional mass. By targeting a specific area, we aren`t needlessly adding weight. Monic allows for the majority of the MOD structure to be lightened, and have the extra mass focused precisely where it increase performance.
Bioflex Core
Working with the Alliance Team to further develop K2`s line of women-specific skis has lead to BioFlex, a breakthrough multi-wood core technology. Used exclusively on K2`s T9 series of skis, the combination of two distinctively different woods, fir and spruce, provide the best of two desired traits in a woman`s ski; stability and forgiveness. Not just different layers of wood, but completely different cores fused together at the tip and tail. Spruce, a light, soft, wood is used in the extremities of the tip and tail, and fir, a more solid, dense wood is used underfoot. The Spruce provides the turn initiation, lightweight characteristics, and overall ease that T9 skis have come to be known for. The Fir underfoot provides an all new level of confidence inspiring control, predictability and stability.Exclusive to the T9 line of skis, Bioflex core technology makes a giant leap in women-specific ski technology.
M1 Binding System
The K2/Marker M1 Ski-Binding System sets the standard for performance and integrated industrial design. Central to the design are the M1 titanium hubs that are imbedded into the core of the ski and enveloped in light weight composite housing. These fixed hubs allow for more balanced and centered points underfoot. By using fewer moving parts than conventional bindings, the M1 System allows for quicker, more efficient power transfer to your edges. Additionally, the design of the M1 toe and heel spacers are up to 30% wider than other rail systems thus extending binding contact points closer to the edge of the ski. This aspect increases leverage and power transfer. A fixed heel and floating toe drivers power down and forward while still allowing the ski to flex freely, in a more consistent round arc maximizing performance. State-of-the-art engineering and a sleek integrated design makes the K2 M1 a lighter, more powerful high performance system.

Similar to a GS style but designed for all-mountain, K2's Lotta Luv is performance profiled for expert and advanced women skiers who typically spend 50% of their day off the groomed corduroy. It features K2's proven torsion box construction, the most widely used design on all K2 skis. Inside the Lotta Luv is a triaxially braided glass configuration around the lively spruce and fir wood core, giving the ski exceptional rebound and response. While K2's torsion box design has been around for a number of years, it remains one of the best (and critically-acclaimed) ski construction techniques because of performance and versatility. If you're wondering about the mix of fir and spruce in the core, that's the key element in K2's female-specific BioFlex design. K2 created a stable and forgiving profile by using spruce at the tip and tail and fir beneath the binding area. Using spruce at the ends helps with turn initiation and enhances the lightweight characteristics that are essential in keeping a female-specific ski more responsive than a heavier unisex ski design. The final refinement is K2's Mod Technology, a secondary core that's independent of the spruce and fir core. Mod Technology dampens vibrations without messing with the ski's overall flex. This improves the ski-to-snow contact while reducing the bouncing chatter. The result is a smoother ride that carries through a range of terrain with predictable consistency. This season K2 kept the proven combination of the Lotta Luv and the integrated Marker M1 11.0 TC (Total Contact) binding. Marker's piston configuration borrows all the best elements from their best IBX systems, allowing you to load and bend the ski deeper with a pronounced, bowed radius through powerful turns. The Piston Control Interface helps manage the ski's rebound as you initiate your next turn. Like previous seasons, K2 continues to donate a portion of their proceeds from all K2 women's products to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation--as if you needed another reason to pick up a pair of Lotta Luvs for you and a friend.
