Good Features My back-country needs for cooking are simple (Backpacker's Pantry and coffee): I need an efficient stove that can boil water quickly. This stove is the best stove out there for what I do! Bad Features The igniter failed after the first use. It's a good thing I bought the maintenance kit, which comes with a sturdier igniter than the original. Recommended Alternatives For what I do - there is no alternative. The MSR Reactor is similar to this stove; it boils more water (good for larger groups), but I don't think it has the coffee press accessory. |

Good Features All in one, very efficient, very easy setup. 2min 42 second boil time. Bad Features Not the lightest setup on the market. | Login to add comments. Was this useful? Yes | No Cred: 353 | Review by dave fluke
Good Features super fast boiling times;everything packs away inside the cup Bad Features watch it close cause it heats so fast that it will boil over in no time and melt the outer cozy and you will get your fingers burned tring to turn down the heat;found this out the first use | Login to add comments. Good Features I love this thing. It is so easy to set up and you can literally have boiling water in just a couple minutes. And it's nice how everything (even the fuel canister) fit right into the cup. Bad Features Sometimes the igniter doesn't work. Make sure you have matches. Recommended Alternatives Nope | Login to add comments. Was this useful? Yes | No Cred: 159 | Review by clewttu
Good Features So easy to use. Fast set up, fast boil, fuel efficient. Nuff said. (many accesories too) Bad Features Says its not good to cook in the cup, but i assume the pot you can get with it or instead of would work for that? I dont need this capability though anyways. Maybe a larger cup? Recommended Alternatives MSR's variation, twice as much capacity, but twice the cost. Probably better for families, or larger groups, though my jetboil is generally used by me and up to 3-4 others, and its all weve needed. | Login to add comments. Was this useful? Good Features Compact and quick to boil. Easy to fly with. Easy to start. Bad Features The piezo started will break at some point but easier to replace or just light with a match. Not for you if you are into that fancy gourmet cooking. Keep the fuel cannisters warm if it is cold. | Login to add comments. Was this useful? Yes | No Cred: 114 | Review by octennis
Good Features Boils water very quickly. Easy to pack and carry. I use it mostly to make tea and hot chocolate in the morning/evening. Also good for dehydrated meals. Bad Features Not very versatile. Only boils two cups of water at a time. | Login to add comments. Was this useful? Yes | No Cred: 40 | Review by fb_124300797
Good Features Looove this thing. When making hot coffee or quick meals this is the ballz. If you read up on The Freezer bag method you will never go back hot dogs, and hobo joes. Bad Features Its only good for boiling water. I tried cooking in it just after I got it and wow ive still got chared food stuck to the bottom. Recommended Alternatives push the frezer bag method nothing compares!! | Login to add comments. Was this useful? Yes | No Cred: 160 | Review by stevencook

Good Features This thing is so awesome it's not even funny. It will literally boil water in 90 seconds. Good Features Very easy to use, no priming. Others have stated that you have to use the Jetboil canisters. This is untrue you can use SnowPeak or MSR canisters as well, but the Jetboil canisters will fit inside the pot. I like the all in one integrated setup. Bad Features Efficiency goes downhill as the temperatures drop. In cold weather the canister must be warmed (inside your jacket or sleeping bag) for a few minutes before the stove will light. Recommended Alternatives I have made the switch to alcohol stoves and am even working on plans for a wood burning stove. Lighter. | Login to add comments. Was this useful? Good Features Extremely easy to use. I hate to admit it, but it does a good job of starting a fire when the wood's soaking wet (marks can testify to that). Bad Features You have to use the JetBoil fuel cells. | Login to add comments. Was this useful? Yes | No Cred: 24 | Review by ospray

Good Features Great for general backpacking. No matches necessary is nice. Bad Features Weak for mountaineering. Didn't deal well with moderate wind / cold conditions.
