Does the job but not well: pokes out ice, cuts webbing/not your pants and hooks for v-threads.
Hook is only opened with finger nail and rack clip come off far to easy (when you don't want it to). Mine hasn't broken yet, but it feels brittle and others have broken theirs. I thought they would be made out of zytel like their crampon strap pieces which stays flexible in the cold.
You bent it slightly and the hook pops right out. No finger nails needed. I can open it even with BD Ice gloves on.I keep mine racked inside a 22cm screw with a piece of 3mm cord clipped into the same biner that hold the screw. Better than having a hook rip through your $300 pants when your hook protector falls off with those other models. I've had mine for two seasons without a problem.
The hook is not pointed. A few strokes with a file will fix this.
Stashes very nicely into the inside of a screw, keeping it out of the way. Also helps push cord / webbing into the tunnel.
Made of crappy plastic, and therefore breaks easily. The flip hook mechanism doesn't release very easily causing you to really pull pretty hard. In gloves, it's irritatingly difficult. Eventually, you'll try to pry it open and snap the whole thing in half. Great idea, terribly done.
