Gopro Hero 2 Outdoor
Gopro Hero 2 Outdoor
4.9 out of 5 based on 8 user reviews.
-Wide angle lens.
-Long battery life. It can charge via USB cable. I once forgot to bring a USB cable for my trip and the single battery lasted through a whole 3 day weekend.
-Lots and lots of accessories (including third party ones)
-Can take time lapse photos and slow motion videos. Although you'll need third party software such as Adobe Premiere to make this work.
-No zoom lens. With the angle so wide, you'll have to really get close to your action if you want a bigger view.
-No monitor to review your video (although the lack of monitor is what makes this battery so long lasting. Plus, they just showed a new camera with monitor at CES this year. If this is important to you, you might want to wait.)
-The lens glass for the protective case sticks out, so it's easy to scratch if you're not careful. However, they do have lens replacement kits for sale. I already replaced my first one and it was very easy to do. For the second lens, I've been careful not throwing the camera around and it has been scratch free so far.
No alternative. This is in my opinion the best helmet cam on the market.

Great camera, can provide some excellent video for a variety of activities. Compact, easy to work with, I like the different noises it makes to let you know what setting it is on without having to look at the camera (while mounted on your head, etc). Some will say it is not small enough, I disagree, it's the perfect size. Throw it in a pocket or small pouch and you're good. When mounted on the head the weight is fairly insignificant allowing you to be manueverable and ignoring the cameras placement allowing you to work on the task at hand.
- Battery can burn rather fast depending on how much you're using it. When skiing I would get maybe 3-4 full runs out it before I had to recharge it. I'm considering getting a secondary battery pack for longer backcountry trips.
- no one seems to talk about it but have ran into all sorts of problems with watching video and getting video converted to a format so that footage can run smoothly or be edited. not being a prof. photographer and cruddy computer its been hard to actually edit my videos, but hopeful I eventually will have the better software for editing, so be ready for a few suprises.
No alternative that can provide the quality and additional options and flexibility that Gopro can provide; ski, ride, climb, skydive, scuba, or infinity, Gopro works and works well.
fish eye lens captures everything, stable shots, watter proof, shock proof, high quality pictire video and audio
a little big. doesnt have a screen to view pictures and video
i wouldnt recomend anything else this camara is amazing
nothing beats the GoPro's user friendliness. everything is pre set for those who are not as camera savvy
lack of light pick up and no manual settings which causes a photographer like myself to have less control over what im trying to capture
give us photographers a little more to work with
Easily mounted anywhere you can think off
Superior quality video
Video quality is low lighting is extremely noisy.
No alternative. This is the best option.
No other way around it... Gopro all the way. This is my second addition and will continue to shop Gopro!
Waterproof, lightweight, durable, easy to use.
