don't take long to break in (5-10 miles); awesome grip; attention to detail; light enough for day-hiking and strong enough multi-day trips w/load; water proofing is strong. I will keep hiking in these as long as they make them.
Very rugged shoes that look tougher and tougher the more they get worn.
I took these shoes on a trip to Alaska. I did a 75 mile solo hike and twards the begining the padding fell down inside, under the outer lining of the shoe. I was stupid and it wasn't very painfull so I kept walking. I wore and wore on my heel to the point it hurt so bad for a day I walked barefoot, in Alaska in September. After that I cut out all of the padding where the pain was down to the plastic. After the trip I have a huge perminate lump on the back of my foot that cannot be removed and every shoe I wear hurts. I wear my chacos almost non-stop now.
