This is a great lantern. Perfect size. No reason not to throw it in the pack or keep it in the car. A great area light. Perfect for the tent. Dimming feature is nice. The light is soft, but lights up whatever you need to see, if it's a car camping kitchen. Pulling your kit together in the boot, or scrounging around your tent.
bd has larger lanterns for more light. The next size up can be backpacked with.

I goofed on this lantern at first and wrote it off as junk! Reason was, I put new batteries in because my old ones died and the light just started to be all goofy and turn off and wouldn't work right. I took it back and got a new one, which ended up being the new 2011 style one with the new features of dimming. Same problem! Ended up the batteries I had gotten were bad because when I tried other new batteries and it worked perfect!

Needless to say this lantern kicks butt! I use it in my jeep to see, in my tent to see and when I am setting up camp in the dark before the fire is started this lantern lights up my area great! The softness of the light doesn't kill your eyes but yet it is very luminescent. Great and compact, light, and durable little device.
More color options? I love my green color though!
Black Diamonds bigger lanterns if you want or need more light and are not doing backpacking like me.

Great light, small easy to use and hang in tent. Nice for general light and not using headlight. mine set in rain for about two hours and worked like a charm. last a long time when dimmed.
Batteries, not lantern's fault

this is a pretty sweet light. the dimming feature helps conserve batteries, and on full its plenty bright enought to light up a tent or a car. plus, it doesn't weigh much, so there's no reason not to throw it in a pack.
there's not many color options, but i love the green, so thats cool!
none that i know of

Adjustable light. Can be very bright. Have used it in both a 1 and 4 man tent and performs great. Packs small/light. Works great for camp ground light. Batteries last a long time.

I like the size, ease of use, and the output of light.
Okay battery time could be longer.
