| Black Diamond Half Dome Helmet 4.2 out of 5 based on 36 user reviews.
Cred: 40569 | | Review by marks on Jun. 23, 2008 | | Used this while climbing Rainier. Added insulation was nice and helmet was comfortable. |
| One size fits all, is one size fits most. I had the strap maxed out and it was extremely tight under my chin. I wouldn't be able to wear a thick liner with this one. I normally wear large helmets but haven't needed XL so I presumed the one size fits all would work. If they would add 2 inches to the strap all the problems would have been fixed. The actual diameter of the helmet is not the problem. |

Cred: 1096 | | Save my melon, had a large rock come off a upper pitch and crack the shell; and I was able to complete the route.
Update: Just broke my second helmet, Was leading ice when a big icicle broke loose from above and cracked the my helmet, theres a three inch crack along the top; but my melon is just fine didnt even ring my bell at all. So afar I can fault this helmet, Im alive after two potential fatal events. |
| The adjustable piece that fits around your head can strip out after a couple of seasons. |

Cred: 426 | | Fits well and easy to adjust. Has hooks for a light, priced right as a entry level helmet. Pretty light weight. Does the job. Nice color selection if you're into color co ordination. |
| The helmet doesn't have enough ventilation for hot summer days. You will feel the heat building up inside the thing. But this is a feature come colder weather when you welcome the heat. |
| Use this for a cold weather helmet... get a helmet with better Vents for summer. |

Cred: 418 | | only had this helmet for over 3 years now, served me well and i hardly leave the house with it. ;0) |
| It has a tendency to pinch on the pack of my head and i just found a crack in it the other day, and i haven't been hit in the head with anything. The plastic could have been just a little bit thicker maybe. |

Cred: 2643 | | Very comfortable, holds a headlamp well, very light. I think it is more comfortable than the Petzl Elios, but for some reason I trust the Petzl version more. |
| Feels too light, doesnt vent very well. |
|
Cred: 555 | | Fits well. Doesn't fall backward as some people have said. Doesn't get too hot on multipitch summer days. Protects my head when I bump into roofs. Not too expensive. |
|

Cred: 2338 | | Perfect for my use... a few times a year. Thankfully, can not tell you how it handles life-threateneing impacts. Comfortable, easily adjusts, hat fits well underneath. |
|
Cred: 6 | | Awesome helmet, it has saved me from many large ice chunks falling on my head while ice climbing. I have also took it on mountaineering trips and love its light weight. I have had it for around 5 years or so and it is still working great with no problems. It fits well even with a thick hat on under it. |
| It sits high on the head and can look kinda funny. |
|
Cred: 22 | | easy adjusting for fit, clips to hold headlamp keeps snow out for alpine climbing, comfortable, lightweight |
| not a good hot weather helmet, the size adjuster tends to wear out |
| something with vents for hot weather |
|
Cred: 279 | | Great for winter/ice climbing. Great size/shape, fits well over a hat or under a hood. |
