Good overall design. Handy pocket and taco design allows you to carry some gear, food, etc. Breaks the fall and has decent surface area. Acts as a nice mattress in the tent, too.
No a soft catch. Pretty hard on a fall, but definitely softer than the ground.

it is a large pad and it is pretty light it is my first pad!
not as thick as the metolius or mad rock pads.
