This beacon changed the way people think about avalanche survival. The search feature on this device is quite easy to use. This is the world’s best selling beacon and it's easy to see why. It was introduced in 1997 with advancements being made often. The guesswork in taking readings is removed with directional lighting and digital distance readings. Must say that it's easy to use and everyone out there can use this model.
Well the only small issue is that the buttons can be a bit hard to use with gloves on.

I have only tested these, but have found them super simple to use and accurate. The read out and sound signals are the most intuitive in my opinion. I have handled the Peips and Mammot Barryvox beacons.
buckle sometime pushes on transmit/search button, could that happen in an avalanche? Being buried with your transmitter in search mode would be most unhelpful.

The industry standard for a reason, the ease of use, reliability, and features on this beacon is perfect for almost every backcountry addict. The only reason to get any of the other brands is if you are very experienced and doing activities where multiple burials are very likely to happen.
When people don't turn them on or don't have one on them.

Easy to operate. Doesn't burn the batteries very fast.
