If your looking to go from V-brakes to a disc brake the BB7 is the best way to go with the least amount of expense and the best mechanical disc on the market. Would recommend also replacing cables and housing when upgrading to the BB7.
Nothing bad all good.

They work. Good quality. Adjustment knobs on both sides of caliper.
Hard to get adjusted right. Constantly needs readjusting.

-Very adjustable pads
-Excellent stopping power
-What else is there for a brake?
-Noisy when wet or too hot
-Still cable actuated, so they require more adjusting than a simple bleed in a comparable hydraulic.
-None for mechanical disc, best made!
-Avid Elixer series if you want to upgrade to hydraulic.
