Avid BB5 Mechanical Disc Brake | Avid BB5 Mechanical Disc Brake 4 out of 5 based on 2 user reviews.
Cred: 55 | | Nice entry level disc brake. It will stop you when you need it to. I'm using a BB5 on each wheel of my 09 Gary Fisher G2 hardtail with Shimano XT centerlock rotors. |
| Don't spend too much on these, I wouldn't drop more than $30 per wheel for caliper and rotor. The BB7 offers more adjustability for only about $20 more per wheel.
You also might find that you wear through pads quicker with these. Since they have less adjustability you can have some nasty drag on your pads and not even notice it while you're riding. |
| I got a set for free, but if I was buying a new mechanical disc set I would choose the BB7. |

| You need good cables or you might need to buy some with them cause they are quite hard on them. |
