The fish scales are quite effective, but I always carry skins as backup for ice or powder. The tips are quite floaty, but...
...the waist is too narrow and sinks a lot. In afternoon spring conditions and Sierra cement, and powder it is very difficult to ski with your tip out and your boot in the snow.
I've heard great things about the Karhu XCD Guides, but haven't skied them. I will probably replace my X Terrains with Guides
