Hello,
I feel very out of touch in regards to where to start with purchasing skis these days, as I have not bought skis in at least 10 years. I use to ski regularly for the first half of my life and taught skiing through my teens and early twenties, but have been only snowboarding for the last ten years.
I want to get some new skis and feel clueless. Do you know if these skis are quality skis? I have read different information about who makes them. Do you know if they are made by Dynastar of Rossignol?
Thank you,
Carolyn

 | Hi Carolyn,
First off no need to be intimidated by buying new skis. I think anytime you're purchasing a big ticket item like skis you want to be very sure with your decision. With that said I'm not sure a mid-fat twin would be the best first ski back for you. I'm picturing maybe more of a carving ski to begin. Have you ever been on shaped skies? I can't remember exactly when they first came out. I think the Roxy SWEETHEART might be a good starting point. What type of terrain and conditions are you most likely to be in? One foolproof way of getting the ski you want is going to a Demo day or try "rent to buy". Then you'll have a better idea of what the new technologies are. And also what will fit your needs on the slopes.
Regarding who makes these skis. Roxy is a parent company of Quiksilver and this is one of there first major collaborations with the Rossignol Group.
Let me know what else I can do to help.
Tom
