1. I want to run a single front chainring, 26T; what are my best options for this setup? Using an SR Suntour XCR crankset or Race Face? I presume the 26T would bolt to the 64mm BCD and a bashguard would bolt to the 106mm BCD - is this the best setup? Do I need a Jump-Stop?
2. Looking for a lightweight option to the SR Suntour XCR crank. Race Face or Shimano XT?
My bike is an 18" Sette Razzo.

A single is a great idea. For sure run the chainring in the middle with a bash guard outer and also run some sort of chain watcher. 3rd eye makes a pretty inexpensive one. Regarding which crank I'm a bit partial to Shimano. Really depends on how much money you wanna spend.
