Petzl Sarken Crampon
$131.95 - 199.95

Hi, I'd like an opinion betwenn Sarken and Vasak model.

I'm about to do an expedition to Patagone, without ice climbing.
Should I look for Sarken or it'll be fine just with Vasak (less weight).

Thanks,

Nick Aivatzidis (Greece)

I would suggest getting the Vasak with the flexlock. This all material binding will be the easier to put on your footware. And some would even argue almost equal climbing performance.

I agree go with the Vask
There is only a slight advantage to the larger vertical serrated front points of the sarken as far a ice climbing goes. The main difference is durability when mixed ice and rock climbing, the vask will grind down a bit faster.

but if you are just mountaineering and I would go Vask, lighter and the smaller front point make long distance walking a bit easier with out the big front point to trip over.

Get the lightest crampons you can find if you don't intend to ice climb. That means get the aluminum style.
