have you used this thing? how much hassle is this really going to save me, since i assume i will still need to use a dishing gauge, anyway. theoretically, i can just use a properly dished wheel to achieve the same result this gauge provides, right?
i am a home guy who wants to be able to build his own wheels, not a shop with any sort of volume to deal with.

Hey there,
I've never been a big fan of that tool because of the same reasons you just expressed. Since you have to dish the wheel anyway I wouldn't worry to much about the calibration of the truing stand. The calibration of the stand is very tricky to stay on top of so I wouldn't waste your money. Hope this helps.
