Hi - how would you use this base with the Pocket Rocket?

You won't because it is designed for liquid fuel stoves. You should not need a base for the pocket rocket because of the canister.

Actually, I would think it might help (a little) to get the canister out of the snow. In my experience, once you push those canisters into the snow, they fail to work. It could sit right on top of it even thought it isn't going to connect to the canister.
