how is this tent in tropical climates

I would not suggest it because the tent must be set up with the walls. I would try a tent that can be set-up completely with mesh and have a fly. This will save you on the really warm nights.
Sticking with MSR I would suggest their Carbon Reflex 1. Really light and still a single person but can be well vented.

And the carbon poles won't get corroded or rust like the aluminum ones if you are in humid or salty air.
