Mountain Hardwear EV 3
$519.98 - 800.00

Do you have any ratings for waterproofness and breathability?

Hi there,

Well, that is kinda complicated. I can't give you one number for that. Looks like the fly is made of a reinforced Conduit FR laminate material (MH's Gore-tex), with a 3000mm Polyester-Urethane/DWR coating. It is listed as having 2.57 oz/sq yd. waterproof-ness.

The fly and body (and possibly the floor) are reinforced with TX07 fabric (70D ripstop with a PU coating: 3.1 Oz/sq yd) AND WX20 fabric (200D taffeta, .5 Mil PET laminate with 2 layer 840D Polyester: 4.9 Oz/sq yd).

The floor is 70D nylon, also with a 3000mm Polyester-Urethane/DWR coating and listed as having 2.57 oz/sq yd. waterproof-ness.

Breathability is going to be low and hard to measure too, but the tent has lots of well-placed venting. This is the kind of tent that is going to be AWESOME for expeditions, but not ideal for other camping.

I have the EV2. I used it on a solo climb of Rainier this past winter. The tent is very well made. All the seams are taped. I fell asleep without opening the vents. I woke up in the middle of the night and it was snowing inside the tent. I opened two vents and it was fine by morning. There are several vents and they need to be open.
