Hi, and I hope you can help me.

I want to buy my first rope and I just have 200 dollars (I live in Colombia and you can't find a good one for that price there). I do sport and multi-pitch climbing most of the time and some top-rope at the gym, so I want a very durable rope between 10,0mm to 10,5mm (I use a reverso 3 and a BD. atc) and can't decide between a Mammut Flash and a BlueWater Eliminator.

I wonder if these ropes aren't so good and durable as I think they are or if out there is a beter option (maybe a Petzl Zephyr or another brands).

Please illuminate me with your knowledge "gear guru" and thank you so much for any reply.

(excuse my english)

Hello,

I would actually say you probably have one of the best choices right away. The Mammut will give you a long lifespan, and it is still a supple rope. A great first rope or all-rounder.

Do you think that this Beal could be better?

And is it really important to have a dry-treated core (mammut's SuperDry or Beal's GoldenDry) when you only gonna do sport and trad climbing (not gonna be so wet)? I mean, do that affect durability in some how?

or is it enough with a dry-treated sheath?

Thanks again.

No,

Dry treatments are important for ice and alpine climbing.

The Beal is a good rope as well. But I stick by my first choice. 10.5 will be more durable.
