I'm trying to figure out what size board I need. I am 5'4", 125 lbs, female, size 8 1/2. Some info I've read says I need a 147 while others say I need something much smaller...
Can you help me out?

What type of riding do you plan on doing and what is your ability level?
Those two criteria will greatly improve the usefulness of any size recommendation.
Let us know these two things and we'll be able to recommend a good length for you.

With your characteristics you should be riding a board that is between 145cm and 149cm. A 147 therefore would be perfect.
