what is the major difference from the jet 7 to the dragon? |

Five Ten has stopped making the Dragon and the Jet 7 is what has taken its place. Both shoes are designed for very aggressive, steep routes and use the same rubber, but there are some differences. Besides the obvious change from laces to Velcro straps they have implemented a new approach to traction during toe hooking. They take the excess rubber shavings leftover from the molding process and mix it with an adhesive then apply it to the upper section of the toe box, creating a very thin sole-like layer of rubber. Obviously this could not be done with a lace up shoe so I believe that is why they made the switch to Velcro straps. There is no outstanding reason for you to choose one over the other. They are both great shoes and it will come down to whether or not you prefer laces or Velcro. Hope that helps. |
