Eureka Sunrise 8
$139.95 - 199.95

What are the dimensions of the fly? How long are the poles?

Thanks,

Jim

Hey Jim,

Good questions, although nearly no manufacturer will list those specs. The best I can do is to make some educated assumptions and use a little geometry to give you an approximation.

First, we can assume that the pole segments are 25" long since the tent comes in a 25 x 8" bag. The bags are nearly always the length of the poles.

The total length of the poles, as well as the diagonal dimensions of the rainfly are actually going to be about the same calculation (looks like the fly is a little shorter since it doesn't come all the way to the ground). If you look at the tent from the side, it is almost a half circle. The floor is the diameter of the circle at 8 feet (96"). The height of the tent is the radius of the circle, and is 4'11" (59"). However, it is supposed to be 1/2D, which would be 48". So, to be more accurate, lets average the two radii and use r=53.5"; D=107".

If it were a true half circle, the arch of the tent would be 1/2 the circumference of the circle. C = pi x D = 3.14 x 107 = 336. So, the two poles should each be about 168" long. And the fly from corner to corner will be about the same. But we also know the segments are 25", so they are going to be a factor of 25, so I would say they are actually 175" total length.

Unfortunately, I have no way of figuring the short dimension of the fly without knowing how much the roof sticks out from the base of the tent. However, having seen this tent before, I can tell you that they don't stick out very much. Since the fly poles hold the fly out almost parallel to the ground, the fly can't be too much wider than the tent itself, which is 8 feet or 96". I doubt the fly is wider than 9 feet or 108".

Hope that helps,
Melissa

So, the quick answer is:

The fly is about 168-175" diagonally across and no more than 108" x 108" from window to window (or door).

The poles are probably about 175" long, or 7 segments of 25".
