Hey gear guru,
Tell more about the Black Diamond Velvet ski? My daughter grew up racing and is a strong, excellent skier. Where does this ski fall in their line? Is it strong enough to hold an aggressive turn? She's looking for probably a 60% hard pack, 40% powder ski. Any other recommendation?

This ski is in their powder line. It is a softer ski. It is hard to find a 60/40 ski for hardpack/powder.
This is a good choice for the powder side of things.
It will not excel as well on the hard pack.
If you want something a bit more for hard pack, I would suggest

If I wanted to shop the used ski market for a 2-3 year old ski... what would you suggest to look for? Again something a bit more intended for hard pack.

It is tough but the opal series has been around for a couple of years.
