 | These skis are not dedicated race skis. What is your ability level and experience ski racing?
Do you know what disciplines you will be competing in (Slalom, Giant Slalom)?
These skis are designed for carving on groomed runs for advanced beginners to advanced intermediates. If that is your ability level and you don't have any experience racing then these could be a good option for you until you gain more experience. If not, let us know a little more about the racing you plan to do and your experience level and we can recommend a more suitable pair.
Thanks,
Justin

 | actually, i raced for a while in the nancy greene program. then i became a ski instructor (i still am) but i plan to join the school racing team. i have a pair of atomic SL11's and they are 2 years old, i suppose i could keep racing on them. i can't quite remember if the skis that I was looking at were metron 3 or 5, but, if it was 5, would THAT be good for racing? i wouldn't say that i'm expert, but i'm way past intermediate. racing: giant slalom

 | I think you could really enjoy racing on the Metron 5, but the Metron 3 would not be enough ski for you.
Granted they will not be a full blown race ski, but they should serve you just fine for GS races with your high school team. If you start competing in the USSA races outside of school you may want to upgrade to a full race ski to stay competitive.
Thanks,
Justin
