I have a question about MENS boots. I'm looking for a solid backpacking boot that will prevent my feet from getting sore (I get mid-foot pain from hiking long distances). I was looking at Asolo TPS 520 and the powermatic 400 gv. I'd rather not get one that weighs a ton. Do you have any reccomendations on these boots or others?

 | I've had these boots for 3 years now and haven't had an issue (not even a blister). They survived a NOLS semester, multiple backpacking trips, and a season of backcountry travel in AK. IF they fit your foot, I would give them a try.

 | All of the options you suggested are good ones, but I think the solution to your problem is an after market footbed. Along with the mid foot pain, does it feel like your feet are swelling at the end of the day?
After a long hike, run, ski etc, the muscles in your arches fatigue and allow your arches to flatten. It usually also feels like swelling because the metatarsals extend and push apart. By supporting the arch with something substancial, you relive the stress and improve overal fit.
I'm a fan of Superfeet, but other brands (like Sole) make good options as well.
